Course Description
This is an IBITA certified Advanced level Bobath course offered to physiotherapists and occupational therapists in possession of an IBITA-recognized Basic Course certificate. In addition to theory, clinical reasoning, and practical sessions the Advanced course offers supervised/mentored treatment sessions with patients.
This advanced course will be based around postural control, locomotion and upper limb tasks. These tasks will build in complexity, allowing us to explore how the body integrates trunk control, weight transfer, and limb coordination, as well as adapting verticality, interlimb coordination, and dynamic stability in response to transitional and locomotor demands.
Utilizing both current literature and clinical expertise key components of each task will be identified. Through a task framework, participants will identify common movement impairments individuals utilise to accomplish the same goal. This approach encourages critical thinking about what each task demands, and what each patient needs to succeed. Practical sessions will be designed to address common impairments observed in each task thereby enabling our clients to optimise task performance to improve quality of life.
Course participants will be supported in pre-course work they will present creating a dynamic learning environment and facilitating collaborative interaction between colleagues.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The course participant will gain an understanding of:

- Develop and implement systematic assessment, reasoning and treatment approaches, to optimize task performance, addressing the specific needs of individual patients while articulating clinical reasoning clearly and concisely to peers.
